k so i don't know how to control the order so they are out of how they should be. kind of a weird experience and a really long post to result. just know that all is well and i am go back for 100% recovery and i will soon be throwing my self of cliffs, doing barrel rolls, throwing it down in b-ball, and playing soccer--all the stuff i love so much about the life. before we get really started just want to shout out a thanks to all the people that helped. my buddies dan j, dan s, david paul, steve carroll, hunter (dan s's little b.--a trooper). the patrollers, dr. donald (i think his name was) childs. and especially my fam. they are truly the best. there are some more picts but i need to crop them to make them available to the audience. if you don't like weird stuff like cuts and such you may just want to not read this one or at-least skip the picts. good luck. have fun and enjoy your day. rock rock on.
so this is my story as i am sure there has been much speculation as to what exactly happened to my leg. it is not all that great but kind of interesting. so last saturday i was heading off the tram going toward wilber and turned of above wilber and about 50 yrds from the top we dropped a little cliff. dan went off and was fine and this is some thing that i do all the time so i guess for this I was not trying to really protect my self and scope out the landing and all that. so after i went off i turned up hill to slow me down and right as i did that i ran into a rock with my leg and fell pretty hard. got pretty shook up and checked if my feamer was broken and it wasent but then i felt a lot of blood going down my leg. dan came over to check if i was alright and i told him i was ok but i was going to slide down the rest of the mountain on my bum because my leg was really hurting. so i got about half the way down on my bum till that started to hurt to much and not make all that much progress so i flipped around and swam freestyle head first the rest of the way down till i got to the piste (groomed area). there i strapped on my skis and rode on one ski to the lodge got there and hobbled to the bathroom with the help of dan and all the stall were used so i waited 30 seconds and had to cut in front of two nice gentalmen and opend up my pants and saw the big hole in my leg and stepped right out and told dan that we had to go and call ski patrol to get me off the rest of the way. so i laid out near the coffee shop and then waited for a few minutes. the nice lady offered me some hot coco but i kind of was not really in the zone for it so i just laid on the floor with my leg up on the stairs. so the ski patrol got there and put me on a back board and then carried me out and placed me into the tobagan and took that the rest of the way down.
i played around in the clinic down there but after a few looks from some of the personel and alot of oows and wows they said i best go down to alta view and get it fixed up down there because they didnt have the skillity to fix it at the clinic. which i am super graterful for that. if they went ahead and just did it i think i would have gone thorgouh a lot more pain. so when ever they took off the bandage it started to bleed a lot so they wrapped it up but soaking up what blood they could and trying to put as much pressure on it as possible and that, was by far the most painful thing that happed the whole expeirance. so they eventually got it wrapped up and ready for transportation. and rolled me out to dans car and i got to ride in the front seat. wohoo! we went down the canyon and it was super snowy with alot of cars on the side of the road. it took us about 40 min i think (i was kind lost track of time for the whole expirence) and went striaght to the alta view hospital where my father was waiting and helped me out from there. we said good by and thnaks to all of my friends and went into the waiting room for five miniutes. they placed me right next to the fish and i came to the realization that dispite all of the pain i was in i would so much rather be me than be one of those fish. dont get me wrong i would love to be a fish. i think it would be way cool being able to swim and do all they do but the life i lead is so much better i think and i love living it. so the first nurse that checked me in got my symptoms in general and i mean really general she asked me my name, i told her adam and then she wrote down what was wrong with me and she put "leg, hurt". i thought that was pretty funny but i guess they know what they are doing. so they sent me in and sat me down and then they got to work on me. first the did what they called irragate the wound, basically they washed out all of the bad stuff by squirting in a saline solution and get it super clean. they were all pretty excieted to see what it all looked like alive and healthy as opposed to a cadaver and formaldehydie. after that they sent in another one who shot my leg up with a bunch of litakin (sp?). then the docotr came in and assesed it with another doctor as to the plan of attack to fix it all up. so then he went to work and was there for a couple of hours stiching me up and he did a few layers. and after they wraped me all up, took out the iv, and put dan's nascar pants on (thanks dan, loved the pattern) and they sent me on my way.
the crash went down a bit after noon i think and i was out of the hospital and on my way home at five to six. we stopped at smiths to get some antibiotics and that took a while and i was super hungry so i dug into the big chicken that i packed for lunch all barbarian style because i was forkless. (we wernt in my volvo where i keep a pair of plastic utensils) but i did not spill a grian of rice and kept it super clean and even better my dad brought out some fritos which were just the right thing to top it off. eventually we got home and just chilled around there. then went to bed and that is the end of my story. sorry for the order of the pictures.
